How Many Bundles Do I Need?

The short answer, a length chart, and what changes the number.

The short answer

Most full sew-ins use 2–3 bundles with a closure or 3–4 bundles with a frontal. The longer the hair, the more bundles you need: plan on one extra bundle once you go past about 22 inches.

This is general guidance used across the hair industry. Every head, part, and look is a little different.

What changes the number

Length

Longer hair spreads the same amount of hair over more distance, so the ends look thinner. That's why the count goes up as you go down the chart.

How full you want it

The chart is for a natural, full look. For a big, voluminous style, add a bundle. For a sleek, light look on shorter lengths, the low end of the range is usually enough.

Closure vs frontal vs leave-out

A frontal covers your whole hairline from ear to ear, so it takes up more of the install and most people want a bit more hair behind it to match. Not sure which one you want? Read Closure vs Frontal.

Texture

Curly textures look fuller with the same number of bundles, but they also shrink. In our Signature collection, Kinky Curly, Deep Curly, and Burmese Curly sit a few inches shorter than their stretched length. If you want a curly look to hit a certain spot, order a size or two longer.

Should all my bundles be the same length?

You don't have to. Many people mix lengths, like 18, 20, and 22 inches, so the ends taper the way natural hair does. If you want blunt, even ends, buy all the same length.
